In a recent discussion on Google+, the topic of whether Social Networks should being charging in order to prevent the marketing of personal information for profit came up.

I’ve begun to wonder if there isn’t a better way to socialize on the web. My thought is using the syndication feature in WordPress (wordpress.org) or even aggregation with PlanetPlanet (planetplanet.org) to categorize groups of personal sites.

I know it would be incredibly difficult to manage. The aggregation would have to be monitored by human beings in order to prevent spam. Link farming would be prevalent without a rating system.

While a difficult proposition, isn’t this closer to Tim Berners-Lee’s notion of the semantic web?

Have you ever been interested in having an online presence? I’m not talking about a normal social networking profile here! No, I am talking about writing about a topic daily and having that feeling that you are contributing to the Internet.

sourceTX is currently looking for partners to add content day to day and experience the online life. If you are the kind of person that likes to sit with a cup of coffee and meet new and interesting people, please let me know.

I am very interested in turning this site into a community. If you are an artist, an armchair philosopher, a writer, or someone completely bored out of your mind, please hit me up at mike@sourcetx.com with the word “Idea” in the subject line.

I’m ready to load this place up with content and I am interested in finding others who would be interested in it.

Mike
